Have you ever opened the door to a room you already cleaned out, and felt your heart sink? This one is for you.
I know that feeling very well. About four years ago, I cleared out our spare room. It took me four long Saturdays.
When I finished, I stood in the doorway and cried a little. I could finally see the floor.
Last spring, I opened that same door to get the Easter tablecloth. The floor was gone.
There were gift bags, a folding table and a sled my grandson had outgrown. There was a bag for the church sale, and the sale had been over for a year.
My husband looked in over my shoulder. “Didn’t we already do this room?” he asked.
He wasn’t being mean. He really wanted to know. And I shut that door and went downstairs, because I couldn’t stand to look at it.
Maybe you have a room like that. You did all that work, and now you have to declutter again. I want to tell you what I learned the second time, because it was so much easier than I feared.
