Spring Capsule Wardrobe: My Plus Size Edition

Hello, friends!

This is going to be a fun post because I’m going to share with you some of my favorite pieces in my Spring Capsule Wardrobe.

And they’re all plus size!

Spring is in the air!

It’s time to dust off your closets and get ready for some new outfits.

But what if you don’t have a closet?

Or if you’re like me, and you live in the suburbs with no car, it’s just not practical to do a big shopping trip?

Well, then it’s time to get creative.

That’s where a capsule wardrobe comes in.

A capsule wardrobe is a small collection of versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfits.

This can be especially helpful for people who are on tight budgets or who don’t have space for lots of clothes—like me!

I’ve put together my own capsule wardrobe using pieces that fit my plus-size lifestyle (and budget).

I hope this helps you with your own capsule wardrobe!

How Do You Build A Spring Capsule Wardrobe?

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - You can see two women inside the room. The room is where they store their clothes. Both of them are wearing white. They are sitting on a chair. They look like they’re choosing the sandals to wear.

Spring is a great time to refresh your wardrobe.

If you’re looking for a way to refresh your look in a low-cost, sustainable way, consider building a capsule wardrobe.

A capsule wardrobe is a small selection of clothes that can be worn together and mix-and-matched to create several outfits.

The idea is to make it easy to get dressed without having to think too hard about what looks good together.

It’s not just for fashionistas!

Creating a capsule wardrobe is also a great way to save money on clothes because you’ll only buy items that you know work well with each other.

And when something goes out of style or you don’t wear it anymore, it’s easy to replace one piece at a time without having to spend money on an entirely new outfit!

I’ve put together this guide so that you can build your own spring capsule wardrobe.

I’ll walk through what to consider before building one, what you need in a spring plus-size capsule wardrobe, and what not to wear if you are plus-size.

Some Things You Should Consider When Creating A Capsule Wardrobe

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - Two women can be seen in the picture. They are trying clothes on. The woman on the left is deciding whether the shirt she’s holding looks good on the othe woman. Both of them are wearing coats. There are clothes behind them.

If you’ve never heard of a capsule wardrobe, it’s basically a way to streamline your closet.

Instead of having a bunch of different items that all look different, you have fewer pieces that all work together.

When you create a capsule wardrobe, you’ll need to consider three things: your personal style, your lifestyle, and the season.

Let’s go over each one in more detail!

1) Your Personal Style

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - You can see a woman in the picture. She is writing on a notebook. In front of her is a personal computer. A glass of water is in the table. Her table is painted white.

Your personal style is probably the most important consideration when you’re creating a capsule wardrobe.

This is something that will come to you naturally once you start thinking about what styles work for you and what doesn’t.

But it’s still worth taking some time to figure out ahead of time so that you can make sure all of your pieces are cohesive and complementary with one another.

You don’t want to be stuck with all-black everything.

But if every piece in your closet is pink, then it might be time to reconsider how many pinks you have.

2) Your Lifestyle

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is exercising. She is wearing a hoodie. She has earpods on. The weather looks cold.

Your lifestyle is one of the most important factors to consider when creating your capsule wardrobe.

Do you live in a city?

Are you a student?

Do you travel frequently?

These are all things that should be taken into consideration when deciding what clothes to include in your capsule wardrobe.

You should also take into consideration what type of weather you’ll encounter on a regular basis, as well as how often you’ll need to wash your clothing.

If you live in an area with harsh winters and summers, it might be best to have more than one set of winter clothes and summer clothes so that they can be worn throughout the year.

3) The Season

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A hand can be seen in the picture. The hand is holding a flower. The petals of the flower is white. A plant can be seen. It’s flowers is in fullbloom, too.

When planning your capsule wardrobe, it’s important to consider the season.

Your closet should have items that are appropriate for the time of year you’re in.

If it’s winter and you live in a place where it gets cold, you’ll want to have some warm clothes ready to go.

If it’s summer and you live in a place where it gets hot, you’ll want to have some cool items ready to wear.

Consider the weather, too.

Maybe you live somewhere that has all four seasons and each one brings its own set of challenges.

You can create multiple capsules for each season or just make sure your capsule wardrobe is adaptable enough so that it will work for any season or weather condition!

What Do You Need In A Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe?

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She looks like sleeping. There are flowers all over her face. The petals have red and white colors. Her hair is long and black.

Spring is here, and you know what that means.

It’s time to get rid of your winter wardrobe and start stocking up on spring duds.

But when you’re plus size, shopping can be intimidating.

And when it comes to capsule wardrobes, you’ll want to make sure you have the right clothes, and not just any old thing will do.

Here are seven outfits in a spring plus size capsule wardrobe:

1) White Shirtdress And White Sneakers

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is sitting on a chair. The room looks empty. She has her left foot on the chair. She is wearing a ring on her left hand.

This outfit is a great way to start off your spring capsule wardrobe.

It’s light, breezy, and perfect for the transition from winter to spring.

The white shirtdress is super comfortable and easy to move in, while still looking polished.

You can wear this dress with sneakers or flats.

Either way, it’ll look great.

2) Black Pants And A Black Tank Top

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is sitting high on the walls near a fountain. She is wearing all black outfit. Her nails are painted black. The foutain looks lively behind her.

Black pants, a black tank top, and a pair of boots are classic looks that will never go out of style.

Try pairing your black pants with this black tank top for an easy look that can be dressed up or down!

3) A Sweater Dress With Black Heels Or Wedges

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is tying her sandals. She is wearing an all-black outfit. Her hair is short and black. A flower is lying on the floor beside her.

When you’re looking for a spring outfit, you don’t want to overthink it.

You need something that’s easy to put together and comfortable, but also chic and stylish enough to get you the kind of attention you deserve.

That’s where this sweater dress comes in!

It has all the comfort of a comfy sweater, with just enough edge to make it stand out from the crowd.

Pair it with some black heels or wedges for a look that will have people turning their heads as you walk by.

4) Denim Jacket, Jeans, And White Sneakers

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - Two persons can be seen in the picture. They look like models. The man is sitting on a white box. The woman is standing behind him. They are both wearing denim outfits.

Spring has sprung, and it’s time to get outside!

In this look, we’re rocking a denim jacket, jeans, and white sneakers.

The outfit is super easy to throw together and will keep you comfortable all day long.

5) Black Skirt, Black Tank Top, And Boots

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is sitting on the floor. She is wearing all black. Her hair is long and black. She is hugging her knees.

A black skater skirt, black tank top, and black boots are a cool combination for a casual day out with friends or to the office.

I recommend pairing them with a simple white t-shirt to give your look some contrast.

Don’t forget to accessorize!

6) A Floral Dress With Sandals Or Flats

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She looks pretty in her floral dress. She is about to get inside the car. Her hair is curly. Her reflection can be seen on the car.

This outfit is perfect for a spring day spent outdoors.

The floral dress is beautiful, but the color is muted enough that it’s not overwhelming.

Pair it with a pair of sandals or flats.

Either option will be comfortable, and you can choose whatever style you like best.

7) A Dressy Skirt Or Pants And Blouse

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is wearing a patterned top and a black skirt. She looks very happe. Her hair is really short. She has her right arm raised.

If you’re looking for a dressy look, try a skirt or pants with a blouse.

It’s easy to get dressed and look put-together in this outfit.

You can wear it to work, school, or even on a date!

If you want to dress up your outfit, even more, you can add some jewelry or heels.

What Not To Wear If Your A Plus Size?

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She is measuring her waist. She is wearing a black shorts. Her nails are painted. The measure says 41.

When you wear clothes that don’t fit right, you feel like an impostor.

You might look great in your clothes, but they’re not really yours.

They’re just a costume that’s covering up the real you.

The one who’s too fat, or too short, or too tall for this outfit.

But what if we told you there was a way to dress like a million bucks without feeling like someone else?

We’ve got the secret.

It’s called dressing for your body type.

And there are five things all plus-size women should never wear:

1) Anything That’s Too Tight

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A man can be seen in the picture. He is pulling a rope. The rope is brown. He tied the end of the rope in his left hand. His right hand is pulling the rope.

You’ve heard it before, but we’re saying it again.

Don’t wear anything that’s too tight.

You’d think this would be obvious, but we’ve seen plus-size women wearing crop tops and dresses that are so tight they look like they’re going to burst at the seams.

You don’t want to accidentally pop a button or split your dress down the middle, and you definitely don’t want to attract attention for being “too big.”

So if you’re going for a fitted look, make sure the fabric has some give.

And if you’re going for something looser?

Make sure it’s not so loose that it looks like a tent!

2) Anything That’s Too Short

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She looks very confident. Her hair is black and short. She is wearing a white top. Both her hands are on her waist.

If you’re a plus-size woman, it can be hard to find clothes that fit.

But when you do find them, you want to make sure they fit well and look good!

The first thing that should tell you whether or not your outfit is appropriate for your body is the length of the garment.

Anything that’s too short will make your body appear heavier than it is, and any extra fabric will just make you look bigger.

3) Anything That’s Too Low-Cut Or Revealing

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman is the subject of the picture. She is smiling at the camera. She is wearing a blue dress. Her hair is curly. Her right hand has a tie in it.

If you’re a plus size, I get it.

You want to feel confident in your clothing choices and make a statement about your body.

I am here for you!

But there are certain things that just aren’t going to work if you’re a plus-size girl.

Anything that’s too low-cut or revealing is going to make you look like a different person than the one who’s standing in front of the mirror.

That’s because these kinds of cuts emphasize what’s wrong with your body instead of bringing out its best features.

You might think that you need to show off your cleavage or your curves in order to attract attention.

But trust me, nobody wants to see them!

4) Anything That’s Too Loud Or Busy

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. Her hair is neatly tied in a bun. She is wearing a patterned top. She has earrings on. She is wearing makeup.

If you’re a plus-size woman, you might be worried that what you wear is going to make you stand out.

And that’s understandable.

Being a plus-size woman has its challenges, and one of those challenges is that it can be hard to feel confident in your own skin.

So if you want to feel confident in your own skin and look great, here are some things not to wear.

Anything too loud or busy.

When it comes to plus-size fashion, less is more.

Try sticking with solid colors and simple designs so that your outfit can do most of the talking for you!

5) Anything That Doesn’t Make You Feel Good

Spring Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe - A woman can be seen in the picture. She looks very happy. She is holding a notebook with her. Her top is a black long sleeve blouse. Her hair is very short.

If you’re a plus-sized woman, you’ve likely been told that there are certain things you should never wear.

Because of course, it’s not about what looks good on your body, but what will make you feel good about yourself.

After all, that’s the most important thing, right?

Well, I believe in fashion for everyone and that includes plus-sized women!
